Lavinia Ferguson: Press

"Had a great time at the concert. I must say the support artiste, Lavinia Ferguson, was fantastic, an amazing voice with great range. I think she has potential to go far."

"Lavinia writes all her own songs, I suppose the closest you can say is she is a female version of someone like Lemar, or a bit like Beverley Knight, Alicia Keys, Mary J Blige. I think she could have a bright future."

"I saw you on Wednesday in Hebden Bridge and you were excellent, not really my normal listening but you were just captivating. Great voice!"

Lavinia - Pacific Road Theatre 9th November 2004
The 16th Guitar Festival got under way last night at the Pacific Road Arts Centre with a headlining gig by Walter Trout, however, the honour of becoming the first performing artist in the festival fell to solo singer, Lavinia. From North Manchester, Lavinia made the short journey to Wirral to present a half hour set of mainly original material, backed by an acoustic guitarist. Under the spotlight, she produced a quiet, laid back but stylish show appreciated by a gathering audience – never easy in the support slot. She has played Wirral a few times before, and has toured extensively with Midge Ure, so is no stranger to the Birkenhead audience, however, at 22 years old Lavinia has plenty of time to gain even more recognition – which she thoroughly deserves – and given the right breaks, the right support and the exposure, her voice and her material will shine through and she can forget support slots and become a headliner in her own right.
