Lavinia Ferguson: Bio

Lavinia Ferguson

You can’t manufacture this kind of talent. An artist either has 'it', or they don’t. Lavinia Ferguson has 'it'! As a singer and songwriter, her impressive talent in both areas sets her apart from all others and will offer her the longevity as an artist she so desires.

Writing since the age of thirteen, Lavinia has experimented with many genres of music, and has literally books full of songs that chronicle her life and experiences, family, friends and love. Men and women, young and old alike will relate to her observations of the more frivolous subjects in life, along with the deeper and more thought provoking. Describing Lavinia, as just another R’n’B, female singer/songwriter would be cheating her and her audiences, as upon hearing her you will agree she is so much more.

Realising that her songs would not be heard on paper or while production work continued in the studio, Lavinia enlisted a guitar player, who enabled her to perform her songs acoustically, and open to interpretation on the local music scene. Soon word was spreading quickly about a talented and refreshing new artist whose powerful lyrics were delivered by an equally powerful voice, many referring to her as a ‘diva’ in the best sense of the word.

Since making her first appearance at an acoustic night, in a music venue in Stockport, Lavinia was spotted by some promoters, who saw her potential and called upon her to support many of their artists up and down the country including;

Alexander O’Neal, Dave Davies, Ruby Turner, Kelly Jo Phelps, The Chameleons, Dr. Feelgood, Mica Paris, Alison Moorer, The Groundhogs, Walter Trout, The Indigo Girls, Glenn Tilbrook, Nick Harper, Jim Diamond, Hazel O'Conner and Robben Ford.

Lavinia has also completed acoustic tours with Midge Ure and Hamish Stewart, Gordon Haskell and Robbie Mackintosh. There are other more contemporary artists such as Omar, Thea Gilmore and Terri Walker, although, not forgetting her guest appearance on stage with Grammy Award winning, soul legend Mr. Solomon Burke, at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

Although having supported an eclectic group of artists, touching on soul, R’n’B, Country, Jazz , Blues, Rock and Pop, there is a continuous strain that links all of the above to Lavinia Ferguson, and that is the quality of her song writing. She has been received well by all audiences, which can only go towards confirming her status as a crossover artist, with an extremely wide appeal.

Now with a wealth of live experience behind her, Lavinia is bringing her musical influences together to create her own sound. She is an artist who has attitude, feeling, and a maturity beyond her years. Her voice is powerful, rich and soulful with an impressive vocal range, her lyrics clever and insightful, all wrapped in a mix of musical flavours that compliment them both. We now have a British artist who can deliver live what she has promised in the studio.
